GoogleA sticking lock does not necessarily need complete replacement. Janssens checks door alignment, the cylinder, lock case and locking points, then recommends adjustment, repair or replacement according to the fault found.
Find the fault before choosing a new lock
A stiff key may indicate a cylinder problem, but the door may also have dropped or the bolt may be rubbing against its keep. Replacing the lock without checking the door can leave the problem unresolved. Describe the behaviour with the door open and closed, without forcing a mechanism that catches.
- Door alignment problem: adjustment of the door or keep may be appropriate when the mechanism itself works.
- Lost keys or faulty cylinder: replacing only the cylinder may be enough when the rest of the lock is compatible and sound.
- Damaged lock case, bolts or multipoint mechanism: the affected component or mechanism may need repair or replacement.
- After a break-in: the door, frame and fixings also need assessment. A new lock cannot repair a weakened frame.

Compatibility matters more than a brand name
We check the lock format, dimensions, opening direction and locking points. For a multipoint lock, the mechanism reference and measurements matter. A photo of the faceplate on the edge of an open door helps prepare the assessment; do not dismantle the lock to take it.
The proposed hardware must suit the door, use and budget. Extra locking points alone do not establish the resistance of the complete door. Any certification must apply to the exact product and installation conditions. Share any written requirements from your insurer before ordering.
Quote, parts and final checks
Ask for travel, labour, parts, VAT and any timing supplement to be itemised. Compatibility and availability are confirmed before installation. Older or unusual parts may need ordering; any temporary securing option is assessed separately.
After the work, we check the key, handle and locking points with the door open and closed. Ask for the installed reference, the number of keys supplied and the applicable warranty terms.
