When is cylinder replacement enough?
After lost or stolen keys or a move, a new cylinder prevents the old keys from operating that new cylinder. It does not change access to other doors, badges or shared entrances. Tell us if the same key currently opens a communal entrance.
A broken or stiff key needs assessment first: extraction, a damaged key or door alignment may explain the fault. If the lock case, handle or bolts are affected, lock repair or replacement may be more appropriate. If the door is inaccessible, include the need for door opening in your request.
What we check before fitting
- Profile and dimensions: each side must match the door thickness and protective fittings. Overall length alone is not enough to select a replacement.
- Operating features: double-key, thumbturn and emergency functions suit different uses. Opening from outside with a key inserted inside requires a compatible cylinder function.
- Security features: drill, snap or pick resistance applies to a specific product. No cylinder makes an entire door invulnerable.
- Shared access: master-key systems or one key operating several doors may require ordering and approval from the building manager.
Protected keys and ownership cards
Some systems control replacement-key orders through a security card and an authorised network. Rules vary by product and manufacturer: a card alone is not a universal guarantee against copying. We clarify the proposed system, extra-key ordering conditions, number of supplied keys and any lead time. Keep the card separately from your keys.

Price, availability and handover
The quote separates travel, any opening, the cylinder, fitting, keys and VAT. A standard cylinder and a master-key component have different supply requirements. Availability is confirmed for the exact reference. After fitting, operation is checked from both sides and the chosen functions explained. Keep the product reference and documents for future key orders.
