Verification before every door opening
We only open a door after checking your identity and right of access. Have an ID and proof of residence, tenancy agreement or the owner's permission ready. If those are not immediately available, we agree another verification method. If access cannot be verified, we do not open.
What happened before the door stopped opening?
Leaving your keys inside does not automatically mean replacing the lock. Tell us whether the door simply closed, whether it was locked with a key and whether a key remains inserted on the inside. Specify whether this is a private door or a shared building entrance.
- Door closed without turning the key: we assess the latch, protective fittings and condition of the door before choosing a method. Whether the fittings can be preserved requires assessment.
- Door locked with a key: the cylinder and locking mechanism determine the options. A high-security lock requires its own assessment.
- Broken key or jammed lock: a key fragment, cylinder fault or damaged mechanism may be responsible. Removing a fragment does not always require replacing the entire lock.
Avoid forcing the key or handle while waiting. Mention a smart lock if one is fitted: its model, power supply and mechanical fallback matter. An outside key will only work with an inside key inserted if the cylinder supports that function.
What affects the opening price?
The quote depends on travel, timing, the door and lock condition, and any parts required. An exterior photo and a description help us prepare an estimate; an on-site assessment may be needed to confirm the work. Ask what is included, including VAT and any supplements, before agreeing.
If drilling or replacement is needed, the consequences and cost are explained before work starts. Feasibility and working time are assessed for your door and lock. Identity and right of access are checked before opening.
What happens after opening?
A working lock does not need replacement simply because the door was opened. After lost or stolen keys, cylinder replacement can prevent the old keys from operating that cylinder. A damaged lock case or multipoint mechanism may require lock repair or replacement. The diagnosis determines which work is relevant.
