Frequently asked questions

Can you open an armored door without destroying it?
Yes, we are armored door specialists (Fichet, Picard, Tordjman, etc.). In 90% of cases, we open without damage. Only certain serious mechanical blockages require opening through the cylinder.
Why won't my armored door open anymore?
The most common causes are: seized cylinder, strike plate problem, frame deformation, or faulty multipoint lock mechanism. From our experience, we diagnose the exact cause on site and recommend the most cost-effective fix. Call us at 0495 205 400 for immediate help.
Does replacing an armored door lock cost more?
Yes, armored door locks are high-security equipment and replacement typically costs 2 to 3 times more than a standard lock. This premium is due to the complexity of the multipoint mechanism (3, 5, or 7 locking points with coordinated rods), the certified anti-pick and anti-drill cylinder, and brand-specific parts — a Fichet lock body is not interchangeable with a Picard, for example. The price varies by brand and model. Call us at 0495 205 400 for a free quote and advice on the best value for money.
Do you have spare parts for all armored door brands?
We work on all brands: Fichet, Picard, Tordjman, Bricard, Vachette. Our vehicle is equipped with the most common cylinders and parts. For rare models, we can order within 24-48h.

Armoured door locked: why specialist tools and training matter

There is a certain irony to being locked out by your own security door. The very features designed to keep intruders out — reinforced steel panels, multipoint locking bars, anti-drill cylinders — also make it nearly impossible to open without the right expertise. We deal with jammed armoured doors several times a week across Brussels, and the single most important piece of advice we can give is this: do not try to force it yourself.

Why armoured doors jam

When we arrive at a blocked security door, the cause almost always falls into one of four categories:

  • Multipoint lock misalignment — the upper and lower locking bolts no longer line up with the strike plates in the frame. Building settlement, seasonal temperature shifts, or simple wear over the years can create a misalignment of just a few millimetres — enough to prevent the bolts from retracting.
  • Seized or damaged cylinder — the key turns partway then sticks, or spins freely without engaging the mechanism. Internal pins are worn, corroded, or clogged with grime. This is particularly common in cylinders that have never been lubricated.
  • Bolt stuck in the extended position — one of the locking bars remains locked out even when you turn the key. Usually caused by a bent connecting rod or a broken spring inside the lock body.
  • Broken handle square — the square spindle that connects the handle to the lock mechanism can snap or slip out of place. The handle moves freely but nothing happens inside.

Specialist tools for specialist doors

Armoured doors are engineered to resist break-in attempts, which means they also resist improvised opening techniques. Our van carries brand-specific tooling: decoding keys for Fichet, high-security picking sets for Picard and Mul-T-Lock, and extractors designed for patented cylinder profiles. This equipment represents a significant investment and takes years of practice to use effectively.

Intervention time on an armoured door typically runs between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the type of blockage and the brand. Longer than a standard door, certainly, but the goal remains the same: get it open without damaging the door or its armour plating.

Why DIY attempts make things worse

A common situation we handle is arriving to find a client has already tried to fix the problem themselves. The result is almost always the same: the situation has worsened. A screwdriver jammed into the cylinder destroys it without opening the door. Kicking the door dents the armour plating and makes both opening and subsequent repair far more expensive. On a Fichet or Picard door, replacing the armour panel alone can exceed €1,500.

Online tutorials are misleading too — the techniques demonstrated work on entry-level locks, never on high-security hardware.

After opening: diagnosis and repair

Once inside, we pinpoint what caused the blockage and recommend the appropriate repair. Sometimes it is a straightforward strike-plate adjustment. Other times, a cylinder replacement is needed, or in more serious cases, replacement of the entire lock body and connecting rods. Every intervention is documented on your invoice for insurance purposes.
