Drogenbos: Smallest Facilities Commune of the Periphery

With 6,040 inhabitants (2025) over just 2.5 km² (narrow strip 150–900 m wide), Drogenbos is one of the smallest municipalities of Flemish Brabant, located on the southern ring of Brussels (postal code 1620).

Linguistic status

Drogenbos is a linguistic facilities commune: officially Dutch-speaking but offering French services for its French-speaking residents, who make up approximately 75% of the population. Our team works in Dutch and French.

Profile and housing

Located on a narrow strip between the Senne and the Charleroi-Brussels canal, the municipality shows mixed housing combining urban zones and undeveloped land. Strong residential and suburban character, with some Art Nouveau buildings (notably the former school with sgraffito decorations).

Local heritage

Painter Félix De Boeck (1898-1995) was born and lived here — the municipality is home to the Felix De Boeck Museum dedicated to him.

Transport

Drogenbos is served by tram line 82 with three local stops connecting residents directly to Brussels. The immediate proximity of the R0 ring road eases road access.
